My first project for 2011 will be...

Yep, this ugly $10 chair I bought on Craigslist about 4-5 months ago.  I wasn't planning on doing this chair so soon.  In fact, I've been putting it off for quite sometime.  Truth be told, the idea of reupholstering it myself scared me.  And even though I bought the paint for the chair, the fabric and decorative trim, I was hoping to just save up some money and have someone do it for me.

Yes that WAS my plan...until I was talking to my husband about this project I had in mind for Rian's walls in her room and he basically put his foot down and told me "NO MORE PROJECTS UNTIL YOU DO THAT CHAIR!!!!"  He was scary loud.  Okay, not really.  But he did tell me I had to do the chair first.

So I  began taking it apart, nasty job it was.  The chair is old, and dirty.  And I am pretty sure there was some kind of rodent poop in the crevices of the upholstery.  I almost gagged up my dinner.

Good news though, it looks like it's going to be easier than I thought, so hopefully it won't take too long and I'll be able to show it off real soon.  Wish me luck!

I can't wait to see the after pics! You're brave for reupholstering it yourself. It scares me too. I am re-doing my kitchen chairs but they're very simple. Good luck! I'm sure it'll be fantastic.

It may be old and dirty, but it has lots of potential! Go for it!
