All Is Bright- Stenciled Christmas Sign

Can you guess what one of my favorite songs is?


If you guessed Silent Night, then you were right! My mom used to sing Silent Night to me all the time, even when it wasn’t Christmas. I love having those memories.

I know Thanksgiving isn’t even over, but I decided to get an early jump on the Christmas decorations this year. I love Christmas, and one of my favorite parts about it, besides baby Jesus of course, is Christmas music.

This year I decided to use some of the Martha Stewart Décor Paint and Tools from Plaid to create a fun and bright holiday sign. I used an old picture I had out in the garage, paint, stencils, and Christmas lights to create this festive art.

First I took out the picture, glass and matts from the frame.


Then I painted the smaller, inner matt using MS Habanero paint, and went over it with the MS red glitter paint. I LOVE the glitter paints from Martha! Seriously, love them.



I then painted the larger matt turquoise.


I used a larger piece of white cardstock for my “canvas” and the MS letter stencils to spell out “All Is Bright.”


Next I took out the fun holiday stencils from the MS line, and painted stars above the All Is Bright phrase.


When the paint was dry I put my new Christmas art back into the frame, minus the glass. I used a metal skewer to poke holes through the center of each star. And I stuck Christmas lights coming from the back of my picture, through each hole I had poked.


I love how the lights shine through and cast a soft glow. It feels perfect for the upcoming holiday nights. And I like it so much I might add a couple more stars. What do you think?
